Blackberry Jelly|Chokecherry Jelly for beginners | CJLS Geocaching GPS

I heard something rather amusing today on CJLS in Yarmouth, NS, they were going on and on about how people in Yarmouth, do not need a GPS in their car…. Wait a second, you do realize in Yarmouth we have thousands of geocaches! Geocaches are things you find with a GPS. To learn more about it visit the geocaching page of my website! It’s a super fun game that ALSO takes you to places that you will never notice driving by the 100’s of time a day in Yarmouth! So CJLS, you are wrong, people in Yarmouth should own GPS’s:)

Each little dot is a hidden box or container:)

Last year was my first time ever making jelly. Me and Mike were geocaching on the tracks in Arcadia and noticed some blackberries, not some thousands, so me and mike went and grabbed some containers, and started picking. We gave the mosquitoes a lunch, and got tons of blackberries:

When we got them home, we soaked them in water to get the bugs out, then got stockings from the dollar store and Mike squeezed them and squeezed them until his hands hurt.

Lockeport Beach, Nova Scotia | Quahogs & Sand Dollars | Vacation Fall 2011

Over vacation we took the kids to Lockeport beach! Luckily one of my nephews happened to be at my fathers house and we were able to take him too! The boys went beach combing and Maddy, wading while we strolled the entire beach. It was just after hurricane Irene. The beach was full of seaweed, shells, quahogs, sand dollars, even better the seagulls would find them and drop them on the beach to crack them open and the boys were chasing the seagulls away to take the scallop out of them:) Although nobody managed to catch a seagull(thankully cause I think they would have tired to cook it and eat it lol) they did grab 3 quahogs they dropped:)

Riley ducking out of the picture, but I got half of him! 🙂 Beach was beautiful!

Above is a picture of the crevasses in a pile of rocks on the beach that I used to spend hours searching when I was a child with my brother, I found many crabs, sea urchins, snails, shells etc, it was just  cool spot to explore! My mom would bring us here, or my grandparents and playing in the rock was the favorite thing to do until we slipped and fell, or started fighting lol . But this rock, is actually one of my favorite childhood beach memories!
My nephew and his dead crab… not my choice of a cool find, but the boys liked him! lol Had to have a picture of course. <3

Alex also gave e something really cool I will be using in future jewelry photography pictures:

It’s really rare to find a sea urchin shell intact too! Thanks Alex, you have a big heart! 🙂

Hidden Treasures Family Restaurant and Farmers Market Scones

Every Saturday, no matter how hard I try I find it impossible to sleep in! Today I got up extra early today, even before my morning glories to go to the market and check on jewelry orders.

My first stop at the market is still usually the chocolate section, then to scones, then maybe veggies and crafts!

I seriously think these scones could go mainstream, they are just awesome, I have tired making my own a few times, they are NEVER the same. I have had people say they look dry, and hard… NOOOOOO far far from it, they have a crust, but the inside is awesome, moist and like a flaky pastry… I wish they had a delivery service because I would order one right now. My favorite by far now is the carrot cake scone, pizza scone, onion/bacon  and pineapple coconut! If you live in Yarmouth, and you have never tried a scone from the market (or Hilltop Cottage Farms), TRY ONE.  Actually I think you should travel here just to try scones! They are awesome!

Speaking of good food in Yarmouth, NS, take the 10 minute drive out to Port Maitland and try the new Restaurant there Hidden Treasures Family Restaurant, the building used to be the old Yarmouth candy factory I am told. Inside is very neat and clean, the service is FAST, the menu prices INCLUDE TAX, the portions are large, the food is awesome!!! I am not one to go out to eat a lot, one because of the price, two I am not a fan of deep fried things. I heard people raving about how good the prices were and food and I had to go see for myself!

I had the stir-fry on rice, and a can of Diet Pepsi, wow. It came with garlic bread and everything was cooked to perfection! My total bill was $ 11.45 🙂 For how full I was and how good the food was, it was a great deal!

Bumble Bee’s, Sedum Spectabile & Sunflowers

My brother used to plant sunflowers each year and I loved them, they grew huge and he would save the seeds and feed them to the birds, I thought they were the coolest things ever! So this year when planting the garden I decided to go ahead and attempt growing sunflowers, wow was it ever easier then I expected, although I should have known that as from bird seed last year a mini sunflower grew!

Here are some pictures of the sunflowers so far!
