Vacation 2010, so these pictures about about a year old, but last September me and Mike went to the Valley geocaching. Mike took most of these photos:)

This picture above was taken as we were driving through corn fields looking for a geocache, shortest distance to cache can take you on some interesting roads! However once we got to the cache, this was our views, it was amazing!

My First Vegetable Garden Progress Pictures

Tell me a few years ago I would love having a vegetable garden and I would have laughed at you!  Apparently I have awesome soil cause my veggies are going nuts! So far I have tested out the potatoes, carrots, beets and beet greens, cucumber(only got one) and peas! Boy did I learn a lot from my first garden.

1. Don’t try and stuff everything into your garden, space thing apart  more.
2. When planting, plant items more uniform, I just tossed handful’s of seeds in, not the best idea.
3. Peas need a sturdy tall support, too short and wind might destroy your peas.
4. Squash should be planted separately! This year it choked out my onions.
5. I will not plant a whole row of onions next year, it was a waste of space!
6. I will get a cheap fence, I didn’t think I had much to work about as I live in a pretty populated area, lol well a dog liked playing in my garden too, so yep fence!
7. Grow more beets! lol that’s about it.
8. next year I will plant tomatoes to make Chow Chow:)

Beet Greens and Garden Update! Youtube Gardener Praxxus55712!

I love seeing what’s coming out of my garden over the last few months. Here are some pics of the growing progress!

Vegetable Garden | Radish Recipe | Vegetable Contest

Tell me 2 years ago I would be excited about a vegetable garden, and I would have laughed at you!  I love gardening now! I have been slowly starting plant things, this year in my tiny veggie garden I have cucumbers, squash, turnip, carrots, peas, green peppers, potatoes, onions, sunflowers, radishes, beets, broccoli and I think that’s it! For the garden size, I am squishing a lot in there.

Me and Mike attempted to hand till it, however, about 1/3rd in we asked our friends to borrow their tiller, I am very thankful for Jenny and Cody for lending it to us! What would have taken hours of hard labour, took minutes with the tiller.

Also I heard that radishes planted help keep other bugs away! So to experiment I planted some, however, I am not a huge fan of eating a ton of radishes so I looked up recipes with radishes and apparently they are good cooked?     Transplant & Growing Rhubarb |Recipe Rhubarb Crisp!

    I was over visiting a friend this past weekend and she gave me some fresh Rhubarb from her garden. I transplanted some and it’s growing but mine has yet to mature, I got this batch pictured below, from my Dad in Shelbrune, NS:

    My changes:

  • 3 cups diced rhubarb
  • 1 cup white sugar (Perfect if you do not mind tart!)
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour (did not use at all)
  • 1 cup packed light brown sugar
